Peace Regional Search and Rescue Society (PRSAR) is a not for profit society that was formed to provide trained search and rescue personnel and resources to the public sector. We work closely with our tasking agencies (The RCMP and Emergency Management Alberta) to provide expertise in the area of ground search and rescue as well as inland water searches.

(PRSAR) was incorporated as a not for profit society in February 1994. We were formed by a small group of concerned volunteers, to provide a service that, at the time was not readily available in the region. Starting with a nothing more than a desire to help the potential survivor and the willingness to give their time and efforts after a few years, and many hours of training, we are able to provide trained search volunteers, equipment, and expertise to our tasking agencies.

Over the years we have acquired various tools and equipment that allow us to fulfill our mandate more effectively. These currently include a 1995 1 tonne van used as a Mobile Command Post, an enclosed 14 foot tandem axle trailer used for equipment and as a secondary command post, and a 14 foot Zodiac inflatable boat with 40 horse power jet drive for water incidents. We are also equipped to provide assistance with ice and water rescue, disaster communications and aid, slope rescue, and various other public safety related activities.

(PRSAR)is always seeking new members to join the team, experience is not a requirement but a willingness to learn is. All training is done in house at no cost to our members, the only cost is a commitment to come out, train, and participate in activities. Our team currently meets twice a month on the first and third Wednesday evenings. All meetings are part of the on going training program, in which equal time is spent both indoors and out.

(PRSAR) also provides education for younger children through the "Hug a Tree and Survive" and "Lost in the Woods" programs which are catered to children ages 4 through 12.
